Our impact

See the tangible results of our efforts-how we’ve helped preserve Nashville’s landmarks, supported communities, and influenced policies.

The Preservation Society of Nashville (PSN), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022, has rapidly emerged as a transformative force in only two years. It has become the first staffed historic preservation organization in Nashville, channeling essential funding into advocacy and education to create enduring change. By forging strategic partnerships with key decision-makers, PSN is actively shaping and safeguarding the city’s character.

With a modern approach to preservation, the Society believes that growth and prosperity can coexist with protecting the city’s soul. PSN does this through our core values of community, sense of urgency, integrity, collaboration, and practicality.

OUR MISSION

The Preservation Society of Nashville protects and champions Nashville’s unique stories, neighborhoods, and architecture through education, advocacy, and historic preservation.

OUR VISION

The Nashville community knows its future is connected to its past. As such, it honors both historic preservation and growth as vital ingredients that breathe life into the unique character of the city.

“As a native Nashvillian, I see the Preservation Society of Nashville as a bold force redefining what preservation means in our city. PSN disrupts the traditional preservation model by actively engaging with developers, policymakers, and communities to champion innovative solutions that honor our history while embracing thoughtful growth. They don’t just protect buildings—they protect Nashville’s evolving story, ensuring preservation is a catalyst for vibrant, inclusive neighborhoods and sustainable development.”

PSN Board Member; Community Leader and Future Architect
